Driven: True Stories of Inspiration
The Museum of Jurassic Technology in Los Angeles holds many splendid,
unique, and puzzling treasures. It's a carnival of delights and ideas, weaving
art and science, fiction and data, all together into something enchanting and
joyful. In this first of two segments on the museum, curator David Wilson
describes the origins of the project. He says, "I wanted to know, I was
compelled to know, what would happen if a person put everything they had, all of their emotional, financial, spiritual resources behind a single project."
This video is inspiration particularly the part where the curator mentioned need for perseverance. The Museum of Jurassic Technology is the home of numerous biographies of people, historical figures and people who no longer exist. This includes scientist who experimented with scientific methods to produce art but their practices were not recognized, for example Albert Richards the dental radio technician. I like the fact that they kept doing what they were doing irrespective of the obstructions. This museum’s ideology resonates with that of Charles Peale who also painted historical figures, great heroes of America and collected natural objects into the museum.
